The photographer

We have decided on our photographer and he is Chris Lim from Coffeestains photography. The photo that sold SJ away is his film noir photography and his vera wang's photo album.

Film noir photography

Vera Wang photo album

SJ has always dislike taking photo and for the first time he takes a liking for a photographer is very rare.

Sourcing for the photographer is also very hard for me because those BS's photo looks horrible and not up to my standard. By engaging a freelance photographer means the cost of the gown, etc will go up as well. But I cannot compromise my photo with ugly photos that I going to lock away in the cupboard for years. I always wanted to create a wall college in my house with pictures that both of us have visited together, like a memory wall. I will buy a unqiue photo frame from that country and frame up an iconic photo of the place with us in. And the wedding photos can definitely be part of that memory wall and wall paintings in the house. Looking forward to a space of ours soon... which I have no idea when... haiz... everytime I think of that makes me sad.... so many ideas for the house... but no idea when it will come true....

Anyway, we were also looking at another photographer which I personally love too and he is Ron Lee from eyedeas photography. I love his vibrant colours & intimate close-up of the couples in their casual wears.

The Ring

This is our wedding bands which we got this jewelry maker - GOLD & SILVER to customize them. The one on the picture left is SJ's and on the right is mine. It looks funny with a hole in it but it meant to fit into my engagement ring nicely and both the rings will add up to the same thickness as SJ's ring. It is rather a signature design from this jewellery maker and I love it very much when I first saw it on their website.

At this moment I still can't blog about my engagement ring because "I'm not suppose to know" and he yet to pop the question. I find it rather funny as we seems to be doing some stuffs backward. He has to surprise me with the "question" but we are already busy preparing our wedding. Sometime I ask myself, he might as well just put it on can already, no need to be so "mysterious" about it. But no way!~! It's once a lifetime, and even thought I already said "yes". I would still like the magical moment of him with the ring in his hand saying "Will you marry me?" ke ke ke ke.

We have also asked them to design my "si dian jing" which I'm quite look forward to see the designs. I'm still thinking to get just gold, keep it, lock away and will never take out to wear or rather get a nicely designed gold/white gold accessories that I can occasionally wear them for function. We shall see what they can do with the budget given to them.

BV Vs TWP

Who should I choose? BV or TWP? Both are equally nice. BV is well know for its simple & elegant gown that fits into the bride's body like a glove. They let me tried two of their gowns - and both of them make me look so slim & tall, plus they are not yet cut to fit my body. They have my favourite big bow and long train, and their use of swarovski crystal are tastefully done.

I think they are not into lace (one of my favourite too) after I spoke to Cedic, he started a whole conversation about how lace will sometime make one old, etc. Their simplicity wedding package cost at $3,980 but I know they sure have alot of hidden top-ups which I yet go into details with them:
  • Wedding Gown (MTM)
  • Evening Gown (MTM)
  • One pair of wedding gown gloves
  • Two set of veils & hair accessories
  • Two sets of jewelleris - crystallized by swarovski
  • Bridal make-up & hair styling trial, wedding day & night
  • Man suit & dress shirt (MTM)
  • Bridal bouquet for wedding day inclusive head flowers, corsages for groom & parents
  • Wedding car decoration inclusive ribbons for two bridesmaids' car
  • Complimentary off the rack cocktail dress, bridesmaid dress, kua or man's suit.
The other BS I looking at is TWP. It has the lace & long train that I love. I tried on them and I thought it will make me look old but they are rather sexy. Half translucent, see though lace. Nice!~~~ and sexy!~!~!

But their wedding package is slightly more expensive than BV that cost at $4,399. And that's not the end of the cost. If you want satin it will cost an additional $1k, if I want lace and depend on the type of lace it will cost an additional <$800 additional , etc. The cost just goes on and on.... and that makes me abit worried. Compared to BV at least I know I will still get a simple gown (that's their strength) with the cost that they are offering.

Well there is still time to look around and we are looking at one more which is FB. I think we shall keep to these three as too many will make me confuse. Already by looking at the bridal magazines already make me very confused and overwhelmed.

I was abit disappointed on that day also because Sj last min could not make it to the 1st appointment. Wish he was there with me so that he can give comments on which BS's gown is better. But I'm happy that Unice can accompany me despite that she has to prepare her examination. Unice's friend also tag along to see the gowns. She is also getting married and she has the most weird & strict wedding tradition:
  • Her MIL is very conservative so don't allow her to wear revealing gowns.
  • She has to have 12 tea cups during the tea ceremony as she said cannot wash the cups
  • She has to wear her wedding ring on the middle finger.
And those are the few things I find it ridiculous and funny about. But well no choice, sometime getting married is not just the two of us. It also has to please the parents, etc. Count ourselves lucky that both our parents have no ideas of the tradition. So we are all keeping everything simple and sweet. Morning come SJ will come to my house to fetch me to the hotel, we will do our ROM, follow-by tea ceremony and finally a luncheon reception for the rest of the guests. For the rest of the day, we can rest. I cannot imagine having to have a whole day affair from morning to night wearing my gown. The gown is rather heavy!~~~!~It will kill me to wear that the whole day and plus the killer heel. I was about to think maybe I can wear slipper underneath the gown instead of the heel. wahhaha. Anyway, it has been a fun gown hunting with unice and friend, and hope I can arrange another time with SJ again to confirm the BS.

The date has been set! 12 Dec 2010.

The date has been set for our wedding!!!!! 12 Dec 2010.

Initially, the date is on 9 Dec which is a Thursday. We have a bad fight over it as Sj was afraid that no one will turn up for the wedding, even his relatives in Malaysia. I was very upset as it was the only date set by the master and we quarrel over it, feeling that he is been ridiculous. Its our wedding date, if those who loves us will sure take time off to attend our wedding. Why do we need to mind so much about others. It make my mum very furious also as she felt SJ was been too ridiculous. Finally after discussion, we decided to re-consult another master to get a new dates preferably in the weekend so that it will be convenience to everyone.

Actually, different masters will give you different dates as they use different ways to calculate. Some uses your birth dates, some uses the "tong shu", etc all from different school of thoughts. It does not matter, as long as both of you think the date is a good day, it's going to be a good day for the wedding.

12 dec 2010 is also going be a "double happiness" as its my brother birthday also. No idea he wants us to celebrate his birthday for him or not. Ke ke. Thinking of arranging a cake for him on that day.

The venue has also been decided. And its going to be held at "The Intercontinental Hotel".

I love their timeless classic theme as its set in white & turquoise, both my favourite colour. If its going to be this theme, we are planning to have the guys wear dark grey/grey suit with turquoise shirt and for the girls it will be white & turquoise for their dress/blouse/skirt.
